Sachin Tendulkar led, Mumbai Indians won first match against Chennai super kings, who were runners in last time edition. Dhoni won the toss & choose to field first. Mumbai had a brisk start form Sachin & Jayasurya. But later fallen quickly, followed by few quick wickets in the form of Duminy, Bravo & Dhawan.
But Tendulkar found a got support in Nayar, who hit an entertaining 35 in just 14 balls.Tendulkar remained unbeaten at 59.Mumbai lost few more wickets in the end & reached a competitive total of 165 in 20 overs.
Chennai Super Kings, who had bad start losing two wickets (Suresh Raina & Parthiv Patel) in 3 overs at a score of 18 runs. Then they got 2 big hitters in middle Hayden & Flintoff, A good partnership was building on. Sachin introduced Harbhajan, who bowled a beautiful off spin giving 15 runs in his 3 overs & took an very important Flintoff wicket. After losing Hayden & Flintoff in quick time. Dhoni didn’t enough support with remaining batters & lost the plot to Mumbai. Hayden was highest scorer with 44 for Chennai super kings, followed by captain Dhoni (36) & Flintoff.
